Website Design & UX

A website that does
your business justice.

New site or redesign, we design websites that reflect the standard of your business, make the offer easy to understand and help visitors find the right next step. We build them too, so design and development run as one project.

Dated, unclear or hard to use. They’re different problems.

A site can look dated. It can be hard to find your way around. It can make you hard to weigh up. It can fight people on their phones. Those are four problems, not one: visual, structural, content and interaction. A site can have one without the others, and each calls for different work. That’s why the answer is sometimes a rebuild and sometimes a targeted fix.

The Collaroy Centre

Four kinds of visitor, one confusing site.

The Centre’s visitors range from schools and churches to community groups and corporate programs, and the old site served none of them well. It was hard to see what made the venue special, or how to enquire.
The design decision

Organise the site around what each group needs to know before they get in touch, and show the real experience of the place.

Visitors can now find the detail on accommodation, programs and facilities before they contact the team.
Lifestyle Charters

From a brochure to a clear path to enquiry.

The old site worked as a digital brochure.
The design decision

Restructure it around the charter experiences and events people come looking for, and make the routes to an enquiry clearer from wherever a visitor lands.

Explain clearly.
Earn trust quickly.
Make action easy.

That’s the job. Four things do it, and none of them works alone.

Structure

Services, audiences and supporting information organised around what visitors came to do. Navigation that makes sense to someone who has never seen your org chart.

Content and journeys

The right message and the right proof at the point people need them, with a sensible next step from every page. Visitors arrive from different places and often come back before they enquire, so the site can’t assume a single path.

Visual design

Typography, imagery, layout and detail that carry the character and standard of the business. For many buyers, your website is the first piece of your work they see. It should look like you made it.

Interaction

Navigation, buttons, forms and layouts that behave properly on every screen. If someone can’t finish an enquiry on their phone, the rest of the design doesn’t matter.
Good design supports a buying decision. It doesn’t make one on its own. Traffic quality, the offer, pricing and how quickly enquiries get answered all play a part. When the evidence points there and not at the design, you’ll hear it from us.

A clear design, ready to build.

You’ll know what’s being designed, what you’ll review and how it becomes a website. Depending on scope, that includes:

Templates, not pages

Templates set the size of the job, not page count. Forty service pages can share one well-designed template. They don’t need forty designs.

Content

Design and content develop together. We plan with real headings, descriptions, imagery and proof from the start, and agree early who supplies and approves the copy, photography and brand assets. A strong design can’t carry an unresolved content plan.

Usable and buildable

Legibility, contrast, keyboard focus and form behaviour are design decisions, so we make them here. We also weigh heavy imagery, video and animation against load speed. How both are tested in the build, and what can be formally targeted, sits with WordPress Development.

From the brief to the finished experience.

Five stages. At each one you see something real and decide whether it’s right.
01

A written brief

What the site needs to do, for whom and within which constraints. That isn’t always more form fills. It might be better-qualified enquiries, easier service selection, stronger recruitment or fewer basic questions landing on your team.
02

A structure

Navigation, page priorities and key journeys, using the strategy and evidence you already have. You approve the thinking before the pixels.
03

The designs

The visual direction and the agreed templates, including how they respond and behave on different screens.
04

A build-ready pack

The designs refined with your feedback, with content, assets and build details lined up.
05

The built site, checked against the design

Where we’re building it, we review the working site against what you approved before it launches.
It moves fastest with one approval contact, feedback that arrives in one piece and content signed off when it’s due.

The right scope for your website.

The scope follows what you need and the condition of the site you have. That might be a focused improvement, a full website project with design and build together, or website work inside a Growth Partnership alongside other priorities.

If you have a brief, we can start there. If you’re not sure what’s holding the site back, a Clarity Audit can establish that first. Neither the audit nor a partnership is required.

Practical questions

Can you improve our existing website?

Yes. We look at the design, the content and the technical constraints first, then recommend targeted work or a rebuild.

Yes. Design and WordPress development run together as one website project. More complex functionality is agreed separately.

No. Your existing brand assets can inform the design. If identity work turns out to be needed, that’s a separate scope decision.

Us, you or a mix. We agree it upfront, with copywriting included where you need it.

Possibly. We’d first agree who builds it, what the handover includes and who reviews the build against the design. A design file on its own doesn’t guarantee the finished site.

The number of templates, how ready the content and imagery are, how many people review the work, and whether we’re building the site as well.
